In 1955, two women, Edna Hoffer and Grace Barto, founded a rest home on Edna Hoffer’s property in Manheim’s rolling countryside. Our history and mission and values reflect their strong faith and commitment to compassionate care, which have endured. Today, more than 430 men and women reside on Pleasant View’s 108-acre campus—living in cottages spanning the perimeter of the campus or apartments, as well as the personal care and nursing care units. This self-contained Continuing Care Retirement Community features attractive extras such as a fully equipped woodworking shop, pharmacy, bank, convenience store, health club with pool, and full-service beauty salons.
Pleasant View is firmly committed to advocacy for seniors. We stay current with trends and issues concerning seniors with our memberships in LeadingAge (formerly AAHSA), where we participate in its Quality First initiative, LeadingAge, PA- an association of Non-Profit Senior Services, Kairos Health Systems, Inc. (KAIROS), a membership organization that provides managed care contracting and support, group purchasing, consultative and other services, and the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
