Pleasant View Golf Benefit

Fairview Golf Course, Lebanon
Friday, August 20, 2010

Maybe it’s your grandparent, an aunt or uncle; perhaps a coworker’s spouse or family member who is stricken; perhaps it’s your grandchild or their friend from school whose innocent question tears through our souls, “Grandpa, don’t you know who I am?”

Yes, Alzheimer’s (one of several cognitive diseases grouped under the dementia label) can strike people of all social backgrounds, races and from all ethnic and religious communities. Perhaps this generation’s most famous Alzheimer’s victim was former President Ronald Reagan as depicted through his daughter’s (Patti Davis) memorable book, “The Long Goodbye.”

In Arlene’s case, she was a beloved mother, wife (over 30 years) and grandparent – and an avid golfer. Most recently from the Lancaster Pennsylvania area, Arlene Jamison succumbed to the ravages of this cognitive disease in the spring of 2009.

But she is not alone! From former Presidents, to young adults in the prime of their careers, Alzheimer’s disease strikes another American every 70 seconds – an estimated 5.3 million people currently live under this scourge!

“With the country facing unprecedented economic challenges and a rapidly aging baby boomer population, now is the time to address the burgeoning Alzheimer crisis that triples healthcare costs for Americans age 65 and over,” said Harry Johns, Alzheimer’s Association CEO.
Pleasant View Retirement Community is pleased to partner with the friends and family of Arlene Jamison to sponsor this annual golf benefit. Funds raised from fees, sponsorships and gifts go directly to benefit the cognitive care residents at Pleasant View.

Like the rest of the nation, Pleasant View has seen an alarming rise in cognitive disorders and thus a rise in per patient costs because of the ravages of these dementia related diseases. The Annual Arlene Jamison Golf Benefit helps these wonderful residents to live, to give and to be alive in a loving, caring, supportive environment.

Won’t YOU join us in celebrating Arlene’s life, her love of family and partner with Pleasant View to help each resident realize life to its fullest. Pleasant View is indeed a wonderful place to live, to give and to be alive– in part, because YOU care – THANK YOU!

Special thanks to Arlene’s grand daughter, Sarah Kilgore, for a great job on the logo desig
