What is the benevolent care fund?
Benevolent care, an essential component of the ministry of Pleasant View Retirement Community, allows Pleasant View to continue providing service to residents who have, through no fault of their own, depleted personal resources.
How many people benefit from benevolent care?
In 2009, $1,945,686 in benevolent care allowed 108 residents to age in place or receive care even though their savings, insurance, or other subsidies were insufficient to cover costs.
How is benevolent care funded?
From gifts and from the Benevolent Care Endowment Fund. This fund includes gifts permanently invested in an endowment creating a principal base that generates interest income. The interest alone is used annually to underwrite benevolent care. When there is a shortfall in annual gifts and endowment interest, part of benevolent care may be covered by board designated funds.
Why support benevolent care?
To take care of residents regardless of their ability to pay, following the vision established in 1955 by Edna Hoffer.
