1955—Open House and dedication for Pleasant View Rest Home, founded by Edna Hoffer and Grace Barto, as a faith-based haven for elderly residents. The two women, soon joined by Esther Henry as administrator, lived in the building along with the residents.
1972—The rest home was organized as a not-for-profit corporation. A modern nursing care unit replaced the original rest home.
1982—The original building was renovated into apartments and offices and renamed Pleasant View Manor. The nursing home capacity expanded to 133 licensed beds.
1990—Campus services expanded to include personal care with 31 private rooms connected to the Manor Apartments and nursing care unit.
1993—A major expansion changed the campus. An apartment building with 24 units and 10 cottages dotting the perimeter of the campus provided accommodations for residents to live independently. Twenty-nine rooms added to the personal care section and a core services building marked the first phase. Ongoing expansion included construction of additional cottages, creation of a designated unit in nursing care for residents diagnosed with dementia and dementia-related illness, and a respite care room. Now known as Pleasant View Retirement Community, we attained Continuing Care Retirement Community status.
1999—May marked groundbreaking for Town Square. This expansion added to the campus 16 cottages, 76 more apartments, a health club with a wellness pool and fitness center, and other amenities.
2000 -2001—The Manor Apartments building was razed. The first residents moved into the Town Square apartment building.
2002—Construction on the former Manor Apartments site added 96 rooms for personal care, including a 16-room structured living unit designed for residents with memory loss.
2003—Twelve cottages added to the north section of the campus, with 10 more cottages under construction provided more choices in floor plans, as well as two-car garages.
2005--Pleasant View Retirement Community celebrates 50 years of service to the community
2007—Campus population settled at approximately 430 residents in all levels of living. Pleasant View launched a non-medical support service, Pleasant View Care at Home.
2010—Pleasant View staff initiated the neighborhood model in the nursing care section. Resident-centered care shifts the focus toward the resident as the decision maker. This major undertaking represents the move away from the medical model of care with its focus on efficiency to one that creates a homelike environment for residents.
