The move makes way for the $14.8 million Healthcare Center, occurring over two days, August 23 and 24th, on the campus of the retirement community. According to Ron Waack, President and CEO of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Wolfe House and Building Movers in conjunction with Wohlsen Construction handled the move. The current residents of the duplex have been on vacation throughout the process. “The first day was dedicated to positioning the cottage and placing it on wheels in preparation for the second day, which was for the transporting of the cottage to its new location on the opposite side of our campus,” said Waack. “To everyone at Pleasant View, the ‘Yes, We Can!’ means, not only can we raise the needed monies to make our Healthcare Center a reality, we can move mountains. . . or in this case a cottage. . .to complete our mission!” The move is the first step in the Healthcare Center construction project that has slated a groundbreaking ceremony in September 2011. The project is expected to be completed late in 2012. “The new building will provide groups of 16 to 18 residents living in a household setting with private bedrooms or private bedrooms with a shared bath. In addition there will be private consultation space for physicians and families and computerized medical records for easy and secure access,” said Waack. In the “just like home” setting, plans call for a family room complete with a flat screen television, dining area, therapeutic spa tub, and on-site dietetic services. Other senior friendly qualities include; special lighting, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, and low set windows enabling residents to sit and see the panoramic view round out the plans. “The new Healthcare Center will enhance our facilities and keep us competitive with the changing retirement living environment as well as shifting to a new flexible model of care called residentcentered care,” said Waack. “What will not change is the professional and skilled medical care of our residents.” |
