New this year, the day will kick off with a Community Yard Sale, beginning at 8 a.m. Members of the community are invited to reserve space to sell their items, and tables are available for an additional $10/table. On Tuesday, February 16, Pleasant View Retirement Community provided “Blessing Bags” to City Gate, a faith-based organization located in Lancaster. City Gate hosts a free outreach lunch program in their prayer room on the third Tuesday each month. The program feeds the hungry, hurting and the lost. WGAL news anchor Kim Lemon will share her unique and personal story about Lewy Body Dementia at Pleasant View Retirement Community on Wednesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. in the Hoffer Auditorium. This presentation is part of the programming offered through Pleasant View’s Memory Loss Support Group. Family members of residents or members of the community may attend the monthly meetings to receive information, advice and support. NEW PRESIDENT-CEO NAMED FOR PLEASANT VIEW RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

The Board of Directors of Pleasant View Retirement Community has named
Jonathan Hollinger to lead their 430-resident continuing care retirement community in Manheim, PA. Most recently, Hollinger served as Chief Executive Officer of Excentia, managing daily operations and administrative staff for the mental health and intellectual disability service provider. He has a background in public accounting, healthcare, and non-profit management, serving as Controller for Greiner Industries in Mount Joy, PA, and as Accounting Manager for Central Penn Management Group. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from Lebanon Valley College. For more information, click here.

They will be at Pleasant View on Tuesday, May 5 to discuss their book, “Necessary Conversations” and offer suggestions for families to use their parents’ retirement as the benchmark for having the first discussion about their parents’ plans for the next phase of their lives, including finances, medical care, driving, living arrangements, and much more. As part of Pleasant View’s year-long celebration, a recording room will be available for guests to share their memories of Pleasant View Retirement Community. All are encouraged to bring historical objects, photos and personal stories to share with Pleasant View’s oral history project. AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM OFFERED AT PLEASANT VIEW RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

The AARP Driver Safety Program of Pennsylvania will offer two AARP Safe Driving courses at Pleasant View Retirement Community (544 North Penryn Road, Manheim) for those individuals ages 50 and over who hold a valid PA driver’s license. Participants will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. Participants will also learn how to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.

Pleasant View Donates 30 Hospital Beds to Africa

Pleasant View Retirement Community has donated 30 hospital beds to the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, which has philanthropic links to Africa. “Pleasant View’s mission ‘striving to enhance the quality of life for those we serve’ goes beyond our residents,” said Pleasant View Vice-President of Operations, Darlene Farren-Piazza. “We’ve gained considerable joy by donating these beds to those in need in God’s global community.”
