Admiring the sunset, you gaze over the Western horizon. You pause in front of a cluster of apartments, with flower boxes overflowing with wave petunias. You can hear voices, but where are they coming from? You look up and see a group on the rooftop patio, waving as you walk by, and the smell of burgers on the grill entices you to join them.
You take a stroll through the town square. There is a bustling activity surrounding you. Patrons dine outside under the cover of brightly colored umbrellas, laughing as they reconnect with friends. A group of ladies converses over juice smoothies before heading to yoga class. Bicycles whizz past as they turn around a broad Oak tree.
Crossing the street, you see a family with children make their way into a large building, books in hand. You notice a friend heading in the same direction, but instead of books, they’re holding a toolbox. Another person enters the same building with a shawl and a basket full of yarn. You hear the gentle neigh of horses
and the bleating of goats. A wave of yellow sunflowers sways in the breeze.
To your right, you notice a stream of people heading in and out of a barn, and those leaving carry stalks of leafy greens and fragrant herbs. Produce trucks
maneuver in and out, filling their cargo with boxes of the same. Just beyond the barn, a meadow of wildflowers meanders over the rolling hills.
Where is this utopia? Closer than you think.
Over the past year, Pleasant View Retirement Community has embarked on establishing its strategic direction for the years to come. Partnering with CliftonLarsonAllen to lead the strategic planning process, multiple groups of residents, staff, board members, and Manheim community leaders were interviewed to gain insight into their perceptions of Pleasant View’s strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for the future. These interviews led to deep discussions regarding who is Pleasant View and what is at the heart of our mission. Through continued conversations with key staff and leadership, a vision of Pleasant View has emerged – one that creates enhanced impact, experiences and purpose on our campus, allows Pleasant View to serve as the heart of the community and utilizes innovation and technology to improve on the customer experience.
